TOURISM AS ONE OF THE TANZANIA ECONOMIC PILLARS




Tourism has continued to play an important role in the Tanzanian economy and is among the fastest growing sectors in the country provides around 198,557 direct jobs.


More than 44 per cent of Tanzania’s land area is covered with game reserves and national parks. There are 16 national parks, 29 game reserves, 40 controlled conservation areas and marine parks.



The Tanzania tourism sector still remains relatively untapped, receiving approximately 600,000 visitors annual.


Tourism in Tanzania is one of the main sources of foreign exchange and it offers employment opportunities both directly (supporting around 198,557 direct jobs) and indirectly. It also provides investment opportunities are in all sub sectors of tourism in Tanzania, such as hotels construction, restaurants, air and ground operations etc.
